Leviticus 8-10

  • Based on the detail of all the sacrifice instructions and the intricacy of the ordination ceremony of the priests, clearly ceremony was integral to this ancient culture. We don’t tend to be a ceremonial culture. Ceremony sometimes feels rote, but it indicates reverence.
  • 10:1-2- Sacrifices aren’t automatically good: God cares more about our hearts than our actions (though He certainly cares about our actions.) There are a lot of different things that an “unholy” sacrifice can be, but it’s never a good idea to offer one.
  • 10: 16-20 – Moses does his best to assure that the priests follow God’s instructions perfectly.
